DIY Painted Planter

Hi!
What a fun Memorial Day weekend we had!
The weather was gorgeous and so my family and I spent a lot of time out in the sun...with sunscreen, of course. ;)

I also got some time to work on a planter I had picked up on clearance at Target last year sometime.
It was in great shape, but I wanted to add some black and white stripes to it.
So I took out my paint and little brush and painted away after taping some straight lines to the planter.

And after the painting was done, we took a trip to Lowe's (because for some reason Home Depot didn't have the type of plant I was looking for) to buy a fern for our planter.

Here it is!

Our little cutie wanted to show off her new hat and sun dress...she is such a beauty!

Our front porch is starting to come together little by little and now has more "life."
I love having plants on our porch but it is hard to keep a lot of them alive...and since I have heard that ferns are pretty easy to keep alive, I think this one will last a while. :)

Have a great day folks and thanks for stopping by!

Green Painted Desk with Wooden Drawers

Hi there!
Well, it has been a few days but I am back to share with you another desk I made over.
Since I sold the last desk I painted gray, I was on the hunt for another one to paint and possibly sell.

I headed to one of my favorite local thrift stores (that always seems to have something great for a great deal) and found the perfect desk.

I do need to say that, SADLY, I did not take a picture of the desk before I painted it.
Seriously?! I can't believe I forgot to do that....

Oh well, I just have to finished product ready to share today....

I actually like the little scratches because it tells a little bit of a story with this piece.
The hardware is original...I didn't want to paint them...I think they look beautiful just the way they are.

There are 2 really deep drawers on the bottom sides of the desk...really has great storage.
This desk works well for my office space and holds plenty of my supplies.

I also chose to go with a green color for the paint job. I bought a sample of Sherwin Williams Leapfrog and it covered the desk well. I did prime it first so that the paint held on better.

Again, I am really loving it on our room and the green color pairs well with our gray walls.

Updates on Sweet Ella Joy

I know Mother's Day was yesterday and I didn't post about that, but ever since I read about the update of Ella Joy on a post written by Anne on Saturday, I have been thinking about that ever since. This family (The Won's) and their story is so amazing. They are going through a tough journey in life right now, but Ella Joy's mother is so amazing! She really blows me away and I keep praying that God will bless this family for their faithfulness to Him.

If you have time to read a bit about it, you can read about their journey here. It gets me teary-eyed every time I read her pour her heart out to God for her little girl, especially now that I am a mother to 2 little ones myself. I can't imagine what they are going through but I can pray with them!

Even though this family is going through a very difficult season in their life, they never stop giving thanks to the Lord and His faithfulness. I mean, I don't even do that in times of joy!! Convicting!! And yet, here this family is sharing their struggles with so many and crying out to God for his love and mercy. It really speaks to me and to be honest, it convicts me.

If you can, will you keep praying for this family and for healing in Ella Joy's life as she battles stage IV cancer. Please!

Thank you for taking time to read about this and for thinking about this family.

Gray Painted Dresser

Hello, hello!!

I am so excited to share with you all today one of my newest furniture make-overs!
I recently made over a thrift store dresser that was in need of some T.L.C. and I love the outcome.
It did take me some time to work on it because I was either sanding, painting, building, etc. during our daughter's naps or on the weekends. But it is finally done and I am so pleased with the turn-out.

Check out that side bookshelf!!
I made it and added it to the side of the dresser so it can hold little books and magazines. :)
I love it! It adds personality to an otherwise plain dresser.

I lined the shelves with some green and white paper I purchased at Home Goods.

And as a little reminder, here is what the dresser looked like before the make-over:

I painted some detail on the front of the dresser to add more character and also added some moulding to the top of the dresser to jazz it up a bit.

This baby has some deep drawers too....it can hold a lot of stuff!
It is for sale right now and looking for a good home.

Oh, and in case you are wondering where I found my inspiration for this dresser, it came from this website:

Painted Sideboard

Hello there!

How was your weekend?
Ours was pretty good actually...we spent a lot of it running errands and hanging out with friends. It was a good weekend but it always seems to go by too quickly!

Anyways, I wanted to share with you all a sideboard I recently painted and sold!
The day I posted about the sideboard I was contacted by a lady who wanted to purchase it...I wasn't expecting an offer that quickly, but it worked out and I am actually a little sad that we don't have it in our home anymore.
It was a very pretty sideboard and very well-made...sometimes that is hard to come by!

Here are some of the pictures I took of it after it was painted and styled.

Here is what this piece use to look like before I painted it and distressed it a little bit.

And here is another after photo.

I was very pleased with the turn-out/end result and miss this piece a little bit...but I know there are more great pieces out there to find and that is a little exciting!

I have another piece in the works right now...a dresser.
It is almost finished and once it is done, I will post some pictures.
Thanks for stopping by!

Some New Pieces

Hi everyone!
Can't believe it is Thursday already!!

Whew...the days just seem to be flying by...funny how that works as you get older.

Well, I wanted to share with you some new pieces I have been working on.

I got both of these pieces at a thrift store in the area that I love to visit...this particular thrift store ALWAYS has great furniture...seriously...most of it just needs a little T.L.C.

To start, I bought this sideboard that needs a little love...and some paint of course.
It doesn't look it in the photo, but the top has a few dings and scratches.

This dresser is a pretty sturdy piece, but as you can see, it needs some work.
It did come with the drawers...but I just didn't take a picture of it all put together.
The drawers slide very well and the middle drawers are very deep which was a great find!

I have plans for both pieces and am I am pretty excited about getting them done.
Hopefully, the sideboard will be complete this weekend and I will be able to post pictures of it soon. :)

Hope you all have a wonderful Thursday!
