Guest Bathroom with a New Addition

Hi there!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful morning!

The other day, I added 2 little mirrors to our guest bathroom...and when I say little, I mean it because it just took one small nail to hang each up on the wall. Nevertheless, they are cute little mirrors I purchased! There was this blank space in the bathroom to the left of where we hang the bath towels and that space was just screaming for something creative.

What did I end up using to fill the empty space that was in need of a little something??

Well, two little mirrors of course! Which you could have already guessed because I just mentioned that in the paragraph above...way to give away an answer!! Go me!!   :)

I bought both of the mirrors at the Thrift Store for $.99 a piece. They needed a little bit of paint so I go to it by painting both of them Extra White by Sherwin Williams.

Here is a picture of what they looked like before their paint job.

They were cute to begin with, but the actual color of green with the flowery accent to one side of the mirror was not something that would work with the guest bathroom in its current state so they were painted white.

(I have always used Super Paint by Sherwin Williams and I prefer it because it has a primer built in to it which is great for painting anything!!)

The picture above shows the first mirror I painted after the first coat of Extra White.

Don't you just love the octagonal shape of the mirror? I sure do!!

As soon as I spotted them in the Thrift Store, I wanted to buy both of them!

Here is the other mirror (above) and what I love about this mirror is its basic circular shape.

The two play well with eachother and look good together.

Here is another picture after the second coat of paint was applied.

The mirrors needed a little bit of cleaning up, but I did that after the paint dried.

I didn't tape around the mirrors before painting...maybe that's a big "No-No" to some, but for such a little project, I didn't feel the need to paint around the edges of the mirrors. Thankfully, no paint was splattered on the mirrors!  :)

Below is a picture of the empty wall space where I wanted to hang the mirrors.

It is the perfect spot for both little treasures and I couldn't wait to put them up on the wall!

The white accented pieces work well with the wall color which is Sea Salt by Sherwin Williams. It really is a pretty color and is very soothing.

Have you found a space to hang anything up even if it is something small?

:)

Filling a Vase and Hanging a DIY Mirror

Good morning!!
Happy Tuesday to everyone!

Today I wanted to post about a vase in our kitchen nook that I updated recently. Over the weekend, my hubby decided to trim the trees and bushes we have in our front yard and I told him I wanted to keep some of the tree branches he cut down. So he did.  :)
He brought in some beautiful branches (never thought I would really say that about tree branches) from outside and I placed them in a vase in our kitchen nook. Before I show some pictures of it, I just wanted to mention that the beautiful vase was given to me from a wonderful family as a teaching gift last year when I taught 3rd grade.

I love the shapes of all the branches.
It gives our room a more natural look.

I like that this project was super easy and it was a quick way to add a little bit of outside to our home.

The next quick project we did this weekend was hanging the Target mirror that I had purchased a few weeks ago. Can't you tell that sometimes we just aren't in a rush to finish projects around here?  :)

Anyways, this project was easy to finish and anyone can do something like this in their home.

Okay, so we bought this kit (pictured below) at Target because the mirrors I bought didn't have a holding on the back where you can hang them onto the wall, so we had to create our own.

After I had decorated the mirror to my liking, I needed to figure out where I was going to hang it. I decided the mirror would look great in our dining room next to my tree painting. Sounds like I really like trees...hehe.
(Eventually, I would like to frame my painting with some molding so it looks a little more like a real artistic painting).

Next, it was time to nail our backing to the mirror.
(We only did one mirror because the second mirror broke a few weeks ago, which was talked about in another post, and I still haven't purchased another one to replace the old broken mirror).
Guess I better get on top of that!

This part was a little tedious and it took some time, but eventually we were able to nail the backing to the mirror so it could hang up on the wall.

As you can see in the picture below, one of the nails didn't go in all the way. We weren't too worried about this since the mirror is light and we knew it would hang just fine on the wall.

Here we are putting little nails in the wall so we can hang the mirror up. My hubby did this part for me. He is much better at measuring things so I always ask him to help me with when it comes time to hang things up on the wall.  :)
He will be helping me hang a really big mirror this week, he just doesn't know it yet.  :)

Here is what one of the mirrors looks like after we got it up on the dining room wall.
I am going to try and get the other mirror this weekend so that the dining room looks somewhat complete.

I also just realized that when I took the above picture, I must have turned the camera slightly because it is a little crooked. Oh well, you get the idea of how it looks in our dining room.

Updated Outdoor Wreath

Once again, I finished some more small projects around the house this weekend and one of them was updating our front door wreath.

Our original front door wreath had little candle pumpkins around the bottom of it and I really did like that look, but then the wax on the pumpkins began peeling off, so it was time for a new solution.   :)
(This probably happened because the wreath faced the sun in the afternoon so the wax began falling off. hehe...I should have known that would happen eventually.)

Anyways, I decided to wrap the wreath in the yellow and gray yarn I still had left over from when I made our first wreath. I wrapped the wreath over and over again until I got a more fuller look and it turned out great!

Here is a picture of what the wreath looked like after I had finished wrapping it with the yarn.

I could have left the wreath like this and just hung it up on our front door this way, but then I saw a neat picture online of a "Welcome" wreath and wanted to do one myself with my own spin on it.

I gathered my supplies which included tissue paper, yarn, scissors, a Sharpie marker, and scrapbook paper.

I took the gray yarn and used it to swing across the middle of my wreath so I could put my "WELCOME" sign onto it.

The "WELCOME" letters were made with my scrapbook paper and I just used my Sharpie marked to write the words "WELCOME" on them.

Here is what the wreath looked like after I hung my "WELCOME" sign onto it.
This is pretty easy to do so I didn't post a step-by-step how to.

Next, I wanted to add some flowers to my wreath using tissue paper which I purchased at the Dollar Tree. You can click on the link below to see how I made my tissue paper flowers.

After the poms were made, I glued them onto the wreath.

I made only 2 poms for the wreath and may make more in the future...
but for now, I really love how it turned out!

A side shot of my wreath.

And another picture before I put it up on the front door!

New wreath on our front door!

Last picture for you!

Have a wonderful Monday!
