Some Progress and Other Things

Well, I have been on the hunt for a new dresser or desk to renovate/paint and sell.
I recently sold the last gray dresser I painted and can't wait to find something new. It's a very fun hobby for me to transform furniture pieces that have seen better days. I am hoping to start a small business out of it soon, once I get more pieces and a little more workroom to play with.

Speaking of....if you are wondering why things have been a little sparse around here....well, there is a reason for it.
We put our house on the market about 3 weeks ago and we are now under contract. Turns out, the first family to walk thru it put in an offer the next day and we are finishing up the process slowly but surely. I didn't realize how long of a process selling and buying a home would take....there is a lot of things that happen once you are under contract and it surprised us a little. It's definitely not as quick or easy as the HGTV show House Hunters makes it look. ;)

Anyways, I hope to have some excited news to share about our move in the next couple of weeks...it will be fun to decorate a new place and make it ours. We will see what happens, but in the meantime we are praying about it all and for God's plan to be revealed to us clearly. Thanks for your patience through all of this and thank you for reading along. :)

I really love my readers!!!!! Every single one of you!

The thrift store where I find most of my furniture pieces will be a bit further away if we move, but that won't stop me from being a loyal customer. ;)

Over-Sized Chalkboard Frame

It is no secret that I love chalkboard prints.

This project I recently completed is of course a chalkboard frame...in fact, it isn't just any chalkboard framed picture I did...it is an over-sized wall mounted one!

Take a look...

I love this project...for so many reasons.
This piece use to be a mirror that belonged to a dresser I redid a few months ago and sold. All that was needed was a little sanding, some paint, and chalkboard paint on the main frame.
It now hangs in our daughter's room and the quote was taken from one of her favorite books, "Guess How Much I Love You."
I smile at it every time I walk by it and our daughter loves it too!

I think this piece will be here for a long while. :)

Another Gray Painted Dresser

I'm back today to share another dresser I painted....in gray of course!
Now, this dresser has been ready for a few weeks now....I am posting now because I have finally had the chance to take some photos of it and post if for you all.

I sanded, primed, and painted the dresser to start and filled any gaps as needed with some wood filler...then sanded more.
The gray color came from a mixture I made with some leftover paint.

Here is the finished product...and there will be more to share about the knobs on the drawers at the end of the post.

The knobs were covered in jute (which was purchased at Home Depot)...pretty inexpensive way to dress up some plain knobs.
The drawers were also layered with some left over black and white paper I had on hand....it's a quick way to add a little something extra to the inside of the dresser.

And there you have it....a new gray painted dresser with jute knobs.
**No longer available- went to a good home already!**

Some Lovely Inspirations

Hi there!
Happy Wednesday!

Well, today is a good day for our family...we are finally over being sick....well, almost!
It seems like if one person in the family gets something, then it just passes on to the rest of family. It's how it works I guess.
We are so thankful for prayer and for medicine that we can take to treat our symptoms and illnesses. Praise the Lord!

Today, I have 2 images of inspiration for you. These are some things I would like to keep for the future when we move so I can try them in a new place. You will probably recognize these photos if you read design blogs. :)

The first up is from Dear Lillie. I love how she has chosen to decorate her home...each space is unique and beautiful! She has a great eye for design, that's for sure.

I love this! She created her own sideboard and painted/stained it and added a chalkboard picture to the top for notes. Gotta try this!!
She even added an eye hook to the side of the sideboard...I just noticed that but what a clever idea!

And here is the second inspirational photo I found...it' is from Young House Love.

I love what Young House Love did here in their bedroom. They added a gallery wall of personal photos to their room and it turned out fantastic. Such a beautiful way to add family memories.

These are only 2 images of spaces, but they have really changed the way I've thought about putting a room together....so you can bet I am keeping these for the next house.
