Vintage Dresser from 1930's or 1940's

Hi everyone...
thank you for your prayers from my most recent post.
I know I mostly post about DIY things, but this story really touched my heart and that's why I had to share it so thank you for letting me do that!

Now, I did complete some DIY projects in the past few weeks and wanted to share one of my most recent projects with you all.

Last month, I purchased a vintage dresser from the thrift store for under $50. Crazy huh?
Especially when you see ones like this

from IKEA for $99...and this one just has 2 drawers.

The dresser I bought is made our of solid wood with original hardware...and it has 4 drawers!
Oh...and it also sits on casters (how often can you find those around) so it is easy to maneuver.

Hey! It really pays to live in a town where most of the place is retired folks. I tell ya, our thrift store always has so many vintage pieces...it's hard to not walk away with something in your hand...but because of a budget and lack of space, I often do, sadly. :)

Here is the dresser I purchased before I painted it.

I added some wood filler to some areas to fill in parts of the dresser that were chipped.

I decided to buy a sample quart of paint at Sherwin Williams when they were having a sale and picked Comical Coral...a beautiful shade of pink with a tiny, tiny hint of orange.
I heard about this paint color from one of my favorite blogs to read, YoungHouseLove.

Ahhh...I love those wheels!!!

Ok, now after the dresser was painted and dried, I used some Antiquing Glaze to dirty it up a little bit. This also helped some of the parts stand out that needed it like the little grooves on the dresser fronts.

And these knobs are original to the dresser (at least from what I can tell...ha) but they are so beautiful!
I love the detail on them!

Oh and the fake marble-like contact paper was originally lined the drawers but that was taken off pronto!

Here is the dresser in our little girl's nursery!
Hopefully I will have more to come on this room.
I made a few small changes to it and I love what it looks like!

Thanks for stopping by!

Ella Joy Won

I wasn't sure what to title my post for today and I'm not sure why.
But as my title reads, Ella Joy Won, that is what this post is about.
A little girl named Ella Joy who is battling stage 4 cancer.
If you have been reading some of my posts recently, you may remember this one about Ella Joy.

I found out about the Won family after a friend posted about their story on Facebook.
My heart really goes out to this family even though I have never met them before.
I have to admit that I haven't been too faithful in praying for Ella Joy daily, but I am going to make the effort to now.

It was hard for me to get through the whole post in one reading and I had to step away for a little bit before reading the rest of the post...just a heads up for anyone who does read the post today.

I can't even imagine what it would be like to be in their shoes right now and that isn't something that I want to imagine, to be honest.
I am encouraged by this family and their faithfulness to the Lord- especially this little girl and her faith...which may be why I was drawn to them and their story in the first place.

but Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 19:14

This family needs prayer and if you have a moment in your day, please remember this family and lift them up in prayer.

God is faithful:

God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
I Corinthians 1:9

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33

Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.
Jeremiah 32:17

The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy; they are established forever and ever, to be performed with faithfulness and uprightness. He sent redemption to his people; he has commanded his covenant forever. Holy and awesome is his name!
Psalm 111:7-9

I have a few DIY projects complete, but just couldn't post about those today...I really wanted to share more of this family's story.

I do believe the Won family has great faith and trust in the Lord and they are asking for prayer for Ella Joy- for healing in her body from cancer and for strength.
Will you lift up this family to Him?

Thank you!

Seeing More Stripes...

in the kitchen that is!

If you have been reading my blog for a bit, then you might be thinking to yourself, "I thought she already added stripes to her kitchen!"

And guess what, I added just a little more with some tape.
;)

Tape? What??

Yep!
Some white masking tape (and it isn't that sticky so it is easily removed from the wall if I tire of it).

See?!

We LOVE it!!

This was all done with some tape....easy peas guys!!

Would you every work with tape like this?
I got the idea from a wonderful blog called TheNester.
This girl is hilarious and writes so well...check her blog out sometime. It is sure to put a smile on your face! :)
