Ruffled Pillow DIY :)

Happy Tuesday morning to everyone!! I hope you all had a wonderful Monday too.

I am here today to shar about a ruffled pillow that I recently completed this weekend.
I will give you all a "semi-tutorial" on how to make a ruffled pillow because I wasn't planning on writing up a step-by-step post on how to make one. I just kind of figured out how to do one after seeing a few pictures online of them so I just decided to give it a go!
Let me know what you think!

So want to know how it turned out??
Well, here are some pics and a little tutorial of how I made our ruffled pillow.
And FYI- because I loved ours so much, I might be making more of them in the future! :)

To start, I used my $30 sewing machine from Wal-Mart (yes, it was cheap, but it does the job for the small projects I like to complete!) to sew the two fabrics together.

What was the fabric I used you say? Well, of course it was left over dropcloth fabric (once again)! Love that stuff! All I did was cut out 2 rectangles that were big enough to fit the pillow to size.

Once the ends were sewed, I pinned and sewed the smaller side of the pillow fabric and fit the pillow in my sewed fabric to make sure it fit.

It did fit!!! Yay!

Then I sewed the other end of the fabric closed so that the pillow was snuggled all in their tightly.

Then it was on to making my ruffle! This was the fun part. :)

I just bunched up the fabric to my liking and pinned them in place.
This floral fabric was also used to cover our bench in the dining room.
More on that here.

I got my sewing machine ready and sewed a straight line down the middle of the ruffle.

I hand sewed the ruffle onto the pillow and made sure to be careful not to sew the ruffle to the actual pillow itself.

After the pillow was complete with ruffle and all, I placed it on my hand-sewn slipcovered chairs. Read more about those here and here.

I hope you love how it turned out as much as I do!!

The pillow on the left was purchased at Target on Clearance baby!! Don't you just LOVE Target's clearance sections?! Anytime I am there, I just make sure to do a "quick" stop by their clearance section. It is amazing some of the prices on these things!

The green fleece blanket we have had for a few years.
I really like how it goes well with the whole color scheme we have going on.

I still have yet to stain the legs of our armchairs, but I am working on getting it done....slowly. :)
